Espresso is a concentrated coffee beverage of Italian origin. It may be consumed clean but is often used as a component of other beverages.
A number of beverages are produced using espresso including:
Affogato : gelato topped off with espresso
Black eye : a cup of coffee with two shots of espresso
Caffè Americano : equal parts espresso and water
Caffè Latte : espresso topped off with a generous amount of steamed milk
Caffè Medici : two shots of espresso poured over chocolate syrup and orange peel topped with whipped cream
Caffè Mocha : a hot chocolate with espresso added
Cappuccino : equal parts espresso, steamed milk, and milk foam
Macchiato : a shot of espresso marked with a small amount of steamed milk
Red eye : a cup of coffee with a shot of espresso
