Rules of association as a contributor

Contributors must note the following Chefpedia policies:


Once a contributor has added an editorial to Chefpedia it is not possible to delete the contributor as all contributions must be assigned to some identifier.


Contributors are expected to add a minimum of four items/articles or technical information on a topic a year (No matter how small). Or you may lose your approved status.


If you add information on behalf of a company, organization, group, product, or other person etc. you need their permission to name them.


If you add information on behalf of a company organization, group, product, or other person etc. which you have permission; identify your relationship, this gains respect of the chef’s community.


If you edit another non technical contribution, ensure the original contributor wants these to be publicly mentioned on Chefpedia as they may wish it to be private.


Information of a self or business promotional nature, advertorials, resumes etc. should limited to a brief 3 – 5 sentence summary and may include a picture.


Images file sizes should be under 50K and no larger than 300 x 300 pixels.


It is essential to note that if you include personal information such as contact details, email address, instant messaging, etc. a photograph, location, information about your areas of expertise and interest, likes and dislikes, etc. Once added this information is unlikely to ever become private again. It could be copied elsewhere or even used to harass you in the future.


You are cautioned to think carefully before adding non-public information because you are unlikely to be able to retract it later, even if you change your mind.

As a contributor you agree that you will not defame anyone or add explicit or implicit material that is likely to bring the project into disrepute, or information which is likely to give offense or be purposefully divisive in a malicious or spiteful nature.


You agree that the material added to the Chefpedia community is primarily focused on technical aspects of commercial cookery and related matters.


If a contributor disagrees with already added technical material the opposing view should be supported by evidence and referenced.


We recommend that you draft up your material on a word processor first prior to cutting and pasting into Chefpedia.


Do not include non-free images, copyrighted images lacking a free content license on any page or material Do not include any image of a sexual or provocative nature that would bring Chefpedia into disrepute.


Text must either be non-copyright or out of copyright, otherwise only a short quote can be used.


If you use text from another source it should credited to the original source or author, whether or not it is in current copyright.


Your own material text or images on Chefpedia is not copyrightable and once posted belong to the wider community. contributions are irrevocably licensed for copying and reuse under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License and GNU Free documentation license.


In general, it is best to avoid substantially editing another’s contributor’s material. unless where it is likely the edits ( Spelling or grammmar) will be helpful. If If major editing appears necessary, ask the original contributor; or draw their attention to the matter and let them edit the material it themselves If a user asks you not to edit their material, it is probably sensible to respect their request.


Contributors are welcome to include information on them selves including a picture. The policy concepts above are substantially sourced from “media wiki” policies and edited to suit Chefpedia.
